Flying Officer Donald Vicars Wright was noted in the 440 Squadron Diaries on June 11, 1944. His service number as an NCA was R52896 (Sgt – F/Sgt – WO2); he was commissioned on 30 June 1942 SN J12686 (PO – FO – FL). He received his wings at 1 SFTS graduating on 21 December 1940. He flew Kittyhawks with 132 and 11 Squadrons in BC. He crash landed a Hurricane arriving at their new station (Funtington) on 2 April 1944, broke his nose and had cuts to face. No flying for 5 weeks. He flew his first Typhoon operational flight on 11 June following a 3-week refresher at an RAF AFU. His last recorded Op was on 7 November 1944
